Kim Il Sung was born on April 15, 1912 and was the leader of North Korea for 46 years and during the Korean War.
While the United States took the invasion of Seoul as the Soviet’s decision, it is now viewed to be Kim Il Sung’s idea. Kim Il Sung was directly supported by Stalin and indirectly supported by China until the United Nations troops were at the Yalu River. China then began to provide North Korea with weapons in order to push the UN troops back to the 38th parallel. |
Kim Il Sung strongly believed in communism and made sure that all of his citizens were in favor of communism. He also influenced the citizens with news and drawings that made the United States look weak and evil to make North Koreans want to fight against them even more. The citizens also began to pity South Koreans and viewed them as being fooled by the United States and believed that invading South Korea was doing the citizens a favor.
|
Kim Il Sung’s citizens lived poorly and some ended up escaping North Korea during the war to China or South Korea. When the War ended, North Koreans refused to return to their homelands and stayed in China or South Korea.
