MacArthur was born on January 26, 1880. He was a five-star general and Field Marshal of the Philippine Army. He was also the Chief of Staff of the U.S. Army and contributed greatly in the Pacific theater during the Second World War. Due to his many achievements, he was the most popular General by the Americans of the time.
General MacArthur was in charge of the police action at the beginning of the war since he was the highest ranked general. In August of 1950, the U.S. troops were able to settle the situation. General MacArthur achieved victory at the Battle of Incheon and continued to move north all the way to the Yalu River of China. UN forces were then attacked by China, returning to the 38th parallel in November.

When MacArthur requested to attack China at the Yalu River in 1951, Truman refused. MacArthur then presented his plan to Joseph Martin, the Republican House leader, who released it to the press. Truman began to be concerned that the conflict in Korea would get bigger and become an open conflict with the Soviets because they were supplying weapons and giving warplanes to North Korea. On April 11, 1951, General MacArthur was asked to leave his position.
